The Last Snow of the Year (Hopefully)

J+M+J

It is cold, cloudy, and white outside. It makes me feel a little bit down in the dumps. I do hope my tulips survive.

As I was doing school at my desk, I spied a bottle of nail polish I had gotten for Easter. When I finished my school I grabbed the polish and began painting my fingernails. The color was bright, reminding me of watermelon and summer. When I was done, I felt better.

Exam Results

J+M+J

There are four passing grades in a ballet exam. Pass, which means you just made it, pass plus, the next step up, pass commend, not often given to grade one students, and pass highly commend, the highest you can get and almost never for a grade one ballerina.

I got a PASS PLUS!

I would go into the details of the exam, but you probably would not understand a word I typed; and explaining the French words and steps would take five pages!

My Boy Turns Three

Alexander is very amusing to watch today. If I say “Happy birthday Alex” he may say “Me? Happy?” or he might say “Happy day! Happy day!”as  he is currently running around the house yelling. If you tell him that he is three today he replies “Me? Three? Oh!”

Alexander also realized that there will be cake later on, so since yesterday he has been asking everyone “Where cake? Cake now.”

Before I get to the party pictures, here are some pre-celebration pictures.

Crazy Sarah

We had a fast paced day today, and when we are running around place to place things get a little bit crazy.

Joseph in to the Toilet Paper

Again? That makes three rolls this week!

After play comes my medicine.

Here come the party pictures.

Pointing at the Cake

This what cake looks like after Alexander is done (if you can’t tell there is no frosting on the cake.)

April Showers

J+M+J

The saying ‘April showers bring May flowers’ was put into effect today and yesterday (although I am not sure some of my flowers will wait until May). It rained and hailed yesteday, and was still raining today. The Sioux river is mildly flooding many areas along its banks.

Today is Palm Sunday, and I am very excited for Lent to be over and Easter to arrive.

Alexander, Maya, and I

J+M+J

Today Alexander and I were outside, and we were playing with a three-year-old neighbor girl named Maya. Since she has no sisters of her own, she suddenly decided I was her older sister. When she told her dad “This is my sister,” Alexander became possesive and declared very loud and firm: “No, mine!”

Ballet Exams

J+M+J

Today I had a ballet exam. That is when older ladies come and watch you dance to make sure you know how to do the exercizes. They may ask you questions such as ‘what does plier (PLEE-ay) mean’ (answer: to bend.) They also watch for imperfections such as bending a leg which is supposed to be straight. I learn the results on Sunday or Monday.

This is Spring!

J+M+J

What a day! What a lovely day! The robins are singing, flowers are on their way up, and it is just lovely! These words from the Magnificat somewhat describe my feelings, I have been thinking of them a lot today: ‘My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.’

Landon bought me a little present for no reason at all! Wasn’t that nice? He let me choose two boxes of flowers from Sunshine to plant. I chose lillies of the valley (what a pretty name) and more mixed colors of columbine (my favorite flower.) Here I am planting them.

Shopping Day

J+M+J

The temperature has been creeping steadily up, as has my height. Today when I brought down my summer clothes, I found that almost everything is too short! So we went on an emergency shopping day this afternoon! Most of my shirts came out of the juniors section instead of the girls section! I am getting older!

City Spelling Bee

J+M+J

Today was the city spelling bee. I got into it by competing against other homeschoolers in the annual homeschool spelling bee and winning. I came in forth place and won a trophy  that is exactly two feet tall. A man from the newspaper that hosted the bee talked to me while writing stuff down. It was very fun.
