Last Minute Plans

J+M+J

With only two hours notice, the whole family packed our bags and were off to our grandparents farm. Dad wanted to help Grandpa in his harvest, so we bought a tent from the store and left town. Mom and Dad were going to stay in a hotel, and we were going to sleep outside. It was a fun trip, and every one except Joseph got to ride in the HUGE combine and the tractor! Alexander really liked riding with Dad and seeing the ‘kim-bine’. Our trip to the farm was a lot of fun.

Hilarious Memories

J+M+J

When I was little, I can’t remember how old, Mom and Dad were asleep in the early morning and I was looking at a
Madeline book on the couch.  I woke them up by suddenly screaming excessively loud because I had gotten a paper cut.

J+M+J

After an all to long period of my internet being down, in which I have not been able to write,  Dad has put me back online!

Green it is!

Mom decided that she would have the new school room green and the kitchen red.  Dad has finished painting the ceiling and installing the lights and light switches, and the carpet man is coning on Monday!

Dad Dances with a June Bug.

We were sitting around a campfire roasting S’Mores when John Paul asked “Dad, Can you do the June bug dance again?” He was reffering to the last time we had a camp fire and a June bug got in Dad’s shirt. Dad did a leap with a half turn in the air with his hand in his shirt, while the others around the fire questioned him as to the cause of his frolic. “I had a June bug in my shirt.”

Wood!

Monday Dad took us to see a man take a maple tree that had fallen down and turn it into boards. First we stoped at Dad’s friend Mr. Swenson’s, house, (the man who owns the logs). The girl behind Mr. Swenson and Dad in this picture is his daughter.

Then we continued on to the house of the man-who-turns-logs-into-boards. He had several stacks of logs. This is a picture of the smallest one.

This is the top tip of a seventy feet long tree. It  is not often you get this view of a tree.

One can barely see the end!

The wood-man lifted the heavy logs out of the trailer with a machine.

He had some very interesting stuff in his workshop, such as this:

Finally the man began to cut the wood. first he cut of a smooth horizontal sliverof bark off, then little hand-like grips came up and turned the log over. He repeated this procedure untill all bark was removed. then he cut longer boards off.

The logs were square and bare atfer they were done having the bark removed. then the man cut bigger boards off the log.

Pieces with only a little bark were sent through another machine to remove it.

After we left we went back to Mr. Swenson’s house to see his goslings and ducklings.

When we finally returned home, we were very tired and happy to go to bed.

John Paul Tries to Decipher his Heritage

J+M+J

One day, John Paul decided he wanted to know more about his ancestors.  Here is the rather interesting conversation he had with Mom.

JP: Mom, who borned Dad?

M: Grandma.

JP: Who borned Grandma?

>M: Great-Grandma

JP: Who borned Great-Grandma?

M: Great-Great-Grandma.

JP: Who borned Great-Great-Grandma?

M: Great-Great-Great-Grandma.

This type of thing went on until John Paul couldn’t remember how many greats Mom had used. (To tell the truth, I think she was loosing track as well.)

JP: Mom, who borned you?

M: Groan

Dad’s Birthday

J+M+J

It is Dad’s Birthday today. I picked out a frozen cake from Coldstone Creamery. Landon put thirty-three candles on the cake, and Dad had a little trouble Lighting them all, and blowing them all out.

We had a hard time keeping Alexander from blowing out Dad’s candles!

My Boy Turns Three

Alexander is very amusing to watch today. If I say “Happy birthday Alex” he may say “Me? Happy?” or he might say “Happy day! Happy day!”as  he is currently running around the house yelling. If you tell him that he is three today he replies “Me? Three? Oh!”

Alexander also realized that there will be cake later on, so since yesterday he has been asking everyone “Where cake? Cake now.”

Before I get to the party pictures, here are some pre-celebration pictures.

Crazy Sarah

We had a fast paced day today, and when we are running around place to place things get a little bit crazy.

Joseph in to the Toilet Paper

Again? That makes three rolls this week!

After play comes my medicine.

Here come the party pictures.

Pointing at the Cake

This what cake looks like after Alexander is done (if you can’t tell there is no frosting on the cake.)

No Frosting

Our 911 Episode

It was a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. Maria was teasing Landon with the phone. “I am going to dial 911, Landon. I am going to call the police.” Landon grabbed the phone from her, and someway or another the button to call was pushed, then the button to hang up.

Ring-a-ling-a-ling! My dad answered. “Hello… No it must have been one of the kids… That’s fine… OK, sorry about that… Bye.” Turning around to Landon and I he said, “That was the police! They’re coming over here to make sure we are all right.”

When the Police car finally pulled up, Maria was nowhere to be seen. The policeman who came to the doors name was Officer Bill. “So, who was on the phone?” he asked promptly. “I think she is hiding.” my Dad replied. “I will go down and try to dig her out.” Dad did not succeed in getting her out. So Of. Bill came downstairs to Maria, who was crying hysterically. Despite all persuasions, Maria would not come out from the covers of her bed. Eventually we returned upstairs, where Of. Bill gave John Paul, whom the officer had named “his buddy,” stickers for himself, Alex (who was at the docter,) and Maria.

Five minutes after Of. Bill departed, Landon and John Paul were patroling the basement with belts on, toy guns in their belts, and their junior officer stickers on their shirts, pretending to be policemen.

This is the true account of our 911 episode.

Dad has set up my blog!

I have been excited for a blog ever since my Dad mentioned about making one for me a year ago.

We both forgot about it until Wednesday, when I thought about surprising him with making one myself, (with Mom’s permission of course,) but alas, I found out I could not use the provider I wanted until I was thirteen. It was time for my Dads help. He helped me, so here I am, here is my blog, and here I am writing my first post. As a blogger I shall faithfully try to answer all comments. I may be awkward at first so bear with me. Goodnight
