Today, August 11, is the feast day of my confirmation saint, St. Philomena.

We beseech Thee, O Lord, to grant us the pardon of our sins by the intercession of Saint , virgin and martyr, who was always pleasing in Thy sight by her eminent chastity and by the profession of every virtue. Amen.

Illustrious virgin and martyr, Saint Philomena, behold me prostrate before the throne whereupon it has pleased the Most Holy Trinity to place thee. Full of confidence in thy protection, I entreat thee to intercede for me with God, from the heights of Heaven deign to cast a glance upon thy humble client! Spouse of Christ, sustain me in suffering, fortify me in temptation, protect me in the dangers surrounding me, obtain for me the graces necessary to me, and in particular 
(Here specify your petition).

Above all, assist me at the hour of my death. Saint Philomena, powerful with God, pray for us. Amen.

O God, Most Holy Trinity, we thank Thee for the graces Thou didst bestow upon the Blessed Virgin Mary, and upon Thy handmaid Philomena, through whose intercession we implore Thy Mercy. Amen.

Bring in a doll all wrapped up in the baby's blanket. The big sister will probably think you are carrying the real baby, and she will shout, run over to you, and grab the doll from you. it is a lot of fun!

Bring in a doll all wrapped up in Daniel's blanket. Your big sister will probably think you are carrying the real baby, and she will shout, run over to you, and grab the doll. Then after she has the doll, she will laugh at herself for thinking a doll was the real baby. This game is a lot of fun!

  Joseph, Alexander, Johnathan, Maria, and I have been taking swimming lessons since last week. On the second day of the lessons, Alexander was getting ‘the talk’ about listening to the teacher on the way to the lessons in the car.” Alexander, you have to do everything the teacher says. If she tells you to stay in one spot, you listen, understand?”  Alexander nodded. Then, Joseph’s voice came quietly from his car-seat in the back. “Chee-cher say: kick-kick-kick-kick.”   “What else does the teacher say, Joseph?” asked Mom.   “Chee-cher say, bwow bub-bows, bwow bub-bows,” he responded.  It was adorable.

Last week, I attended a homeschool Shakespeare Camp, were we put on an almost unabridged production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I played Peter Quince, the director of a play within a play. More details and pictures on this blog, here.
