Adventures in Cooking: Turkey Triumph

A few nights ago, I prepared a turkey for supper. I brined it for two days, to see if it would make the turkey exceptionally tender. I watched it closely during cooking, and the result was a gorgeous looking bird.

The outer layers of skin were the juiciest pieces of turkey I had ever tasted, and the inside was good, though not as good as I had hoped. Alexander, however, thought it was good no matter where the meat was.

I made delicious gravy with the drippings and cornstarch. I was surprised at how simple it was. We poured it over mashed potatoes and it was GOOD!

    Hi Sarah,

Your turkey & gravy look great! Cooking is good experience for you.

Granddad is trying his own food adventure today. He bought some ribs & has put some of Dave’s rub on them & is going to try baking them in the oven. Usually we buy the ribs already smoked & warm them up.

It’s super bowl day, so many people are interested in the big game. My sister, Diane, likes football & her favorite team has made it to the final contest. She will be rooting for the Steelers from Pittsburg. I don’t have any interest in football. Granddad will be watching, but his Vikings are out. I don’t know who he wants to win.

    Love, Grandma Frederes
